Identification

A small pallid centipede (to 19 mm) with 53-57 pairs of legs and with the last pair of legs of characteristic shape.

Distribution and Habitat

There are scattered records across southern England and Ireland, where it is usually found in urban or sub-urban sites, such as gardens and churchyards.
 
Surveys of churchyards in Oxfordshire in the 1990s showed it to be widespread across the county (Gregory & Campbell, 1996, p.30).
