Chaetophiloscia species are typically mottled brown, with a strongly stepped body outline, thus resembling a relatively slender Philoscia muscorum. In the absence of a male it has not been possible to satisfactorily name the species.
Distribution and Habitat
Chaetophiloscia females were collected from ornamental gardens on Tresco, Isles of Scilly in the 1980s. Of the three European species, C. elongata is the most probable, since it reaches the French coasts of the English Channel (‘Le Manche’) and is often associated with human activity (Noël & Séchet, 2007).
